CCSD Hires Director of Communications and Technology
Charleston, SC — Charleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce and welcome Andrew “Andy” Pruitt as the new Director of Communications and Technology in the Office of Strategy and Communications. Pruitt previously served as the Sports Director at Live 5 News for the past nine years, and worked in the sports department there since July 2004. He comes to the District with a strong knowledge of our high schools, coaches, and student-athletes.
Before coming to the Lowcountry, Pruitt started his broadcasting career in 1999 inZanesville, Ohio at WHIZ-TV. After a few years, he moved to Elmira, NY and worked at WETM-TV for four years before landing in South Carolina.
Pruitt has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, and bleeds Orange. He is married to his wife, Andrea, who recently was a surrogate for Andy’s cousin. Their story was featured in the local media in July.
Andy and Andrea have two children, an 8-year old son, Kerrick, and a 6-year old daughter, Krisalyn.

"He is a proven media relations professional in the Charleston area, with a unique skill set and expertise that will complement and lead the District’s Communications team to enhance upon and share more positive stories of CCSD students, parents, staff, and partners through the expanded use of technology and web services."
Pruitt is excited to bring his passion for telling stories and is looking forward to promoting a positive message and all the great things happening with our students, teachers, and staff throughout the District.
