64 CCSD Students Achieve Perfect Scores on SCPASS Exams

Charleston, SC — Several Charleston County School District (CCSD) students ranging from fourth to eighth grade achieved perfect scores on the SCPASS exam in science or social studies last school year. One student in particular, Jessie Ross, a fourth-grader at Pinckney Elementary, scored perfect on both exams during the assessment.

The South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SCPASS) is an annual statewide assessment administered to students in grades four through eight to measure student performance on South Carolina Academic Standards in the fields of science and social studies. Last year’s 64 students with perfect scores is nearly double the number of students achieving at the same level during the 2014-2015 school year.

“We are tremendously proud of these elementary and middle school students’ achievement,” said CCSD Superintendent, Gerrita Postlewait. “We are thrilled to see an increase in the number of students performing at this level and are committed to continuing to close the achievement gap.”
