New Teacher Orientation
On Thursday, August 7, 2008, Charleston County School District (CCSD) held its 2008 New Teacher Orientation and welcomed 150 brand new teachers to the district and profession.
The event occurred at West Ashley High School and opened with hot breakfast, resources and an introduction to community organizations. CCSD Executive Director of Human Resources Susan Holiday and Interim Chief Academic Officer Dr. Doug Gepford then welcomed everyone.
New teachers spent the day planning and preparing for the beginning of the school year. Each teacher was assigned according to grade level and instructional area to a New Educator Network. Each Network is led by experienced educator and is designed to provide support and encouragement. These networks designed symbols of how they hope to impact students’ lives.
At the end of the day, participants watched an inspiring video. Many lucky teachers received door prizes. The day was a great success and helped prepare these educators for an exciting school year and career!
