CCSD Teacher of the Month: December
Each month, Charleston County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley surprises one teacher as the newest Teacher of the Month. For December 2008, this honor went to Tammy Bloser, a Kindergarten teacher at Midland Park Elementary.
Mrs. Bloser, an experienced educator who has served the Midland Park community for 28 years, was nominated by her principal Robert Candillo, who describes her as dedicated, caring, and innovative. Year after year, Mrs. Bloser has cared for her students in such a compassionate manner that even students facing the greatest challenges find great success by the end of the school year.
Her dedication goes well beyond the four walls of her classroom. Mrs. Bloser has gone door-to-door to local businesses to seek raffle items for the school's annual carnival; attained thousands of dollars worth of Donors Choose grants and helped others to write them; accepted visitor after visitor to watch her teach; and provided exceptional professional development on center rotations, literacy-based classrooms, and innovative teaching ideas. She embraces every change with a “go-get-them” attitude and welcomes new ways to help her students excel.
A video of Dr. McGinley surprising Mrs. Bloser- as well as videos featuring past winners- can be viewed on the Teacher of the Month page. Anyone- students, parents, fellow staff members, volunteers, etc.- may nominate their favorite educator. Each nomination form is considered for three months.
