2009 Rookie Teachers of the Year

Charlestowne Academy's steel drum band (under the direction of induction teacher Benjamin Meyer) provides the great music at CCSD's annual Rookie Teacher Celebration at the Charleston RiverDogsOn Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the Charleston RiverDogs hosted the annual Charleston County School District (CCSD) Rookie Teacher Celebration.  The entertainment for the evening was provided by the Charlestowne Academy's steel drum band under the direction of induction teacher Benjamin Meyer.  The event was a great success!

Each year, each CCSD school has the opportunity to select one Rookie Teacher of the Year winner.  The district-wide Rookie Teachers of the Year are selected on the elementary, middle, and high school levels by a panel of veteran teachers. 

This year, two of the winners, Ukecia Gilmore and Brittany Lillibridge, were invited to throw out the first pitch at the game. 

CCSD's 2009 Rookie Teachers of the Year are the following:

Ukecia Gilmore is the elementary level 2009 CCSD Rookie Teacher of the Year.   elementary level: Ukecia Gilmore fifth grade at Hursey Elementary
Jamie Cunningham, a teacher at Winwood Farms and Liberty Hill Academy, is the 2009 Rookie Teacher of the Year. middle school level: Jaime Cunningham Winwood Farms & Liberty Hill Academy
Brittany Lillibridge, an Algebra teacher at Stall High School, is the high school level 2009 Rookie Teacher of the Year   high school level: Brittany Lillibridge Algebra at Stall High
