More Information About This Project

Hundreds of Target employees and volunteers from across the state converged to transform the school's media center into a more inviting place for students to read, be inspired, and experience new technology. In addition to a completely redesigned space, the library received 2,000 new books. At the unveiling event, each student and his or her siblings received seven new books to call their own.

Distinguished guests included Representative James Clyburn, U.S. House of Representatives; Keith Summey, Mayor of North Charleston; Dr. Nancy McGinley, Superintendent of Charleston County School District; Dr. James Winbush, Associate Superintendent; and Steven Wilson, Group Operations Leader and District Team Leader with Target.

In recognition of the important role that nutrition plays in a child’s education, Target is partnering with Lowcountry Food Bank to start a Meals for Minds food pantry at the school. Every month, the Meals for Minds pantry will provide students and their families with convenient access to food staples and fresh produce.
