Title I PAC Presents Parent Leadership Academy
On Saturday, November 19, Charleston County School District (CCSD) hosted its first Leadership Training Academy for Hispanic Parents at Midland Park United Methodist Community Center in North Charleston. Parents from across the county were invited to come and learn more about the important role they play in their children’s education.
This event was presented by the Title I Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Superintendent Dr. Nancy J. McGinley opened the event by welcoming parents and answering questions they had about the district.
The event featured dynamic sessions aimed at teaching parents:
- How to become a leader in the community
- How to become successfully involved in their children's education
- How to maintain a healthy family life.
Throughout the year, Title I PAC allows parents to provide input about topics facing Title I schools, and it provides tangible ways for parents to become actively involved in their children's education while serving as ambassadors for positive change. Through the PAC, parents have access to tools designed to assist them in improving students' academic achievement. Participants learn about critical topics including district programs, academic standards, assessments, literacy, technology, child development and partnership opportunities.
